In October 2023, during the conflict in northern Israel, Maya and her two teenage children were forced to flee their home in Kiryat Shmona due to relentless rocket fire. With only the clothes on their backs, they sought refuge in a crowded Eilat hotel.
Displaced and struggling with the loss of her home and support network, Maya faced mounting challenges. Determined to provide stability for her family, she found hope through an introduction to Ilanit Chafuta, manager of our Or Akiva branch. With Ilanit’s help, Maya secured an apartment and furnished it with donations from our warehouse.
